The webtoon artist’s gloriously unfiltered hospitality struck again on his YouTube channel, blurring the line between endearing and “did that really just happen?”

There’s a phrase that has become shorthand across Korean social media: “기안이 기안했다” roughly, “Kian did a Kian.” It’s what fans say when Kian84 does something so gloriously, unmistakably him that no further explanation is required. On September 17, he did a Kian. Twice. And the internet, as always, couldn’t look away.

In a new video on his YouTube channel Insaeng84 (“Life 84”), the webtoon artist and TV personality hosted LE SSERAFIM‘s Kazuha for a home visit and proceeded to slurp the leftover red ginseng straight from a pouch she’d just been drinking from, then, in a separate segment, personally clip her toenails. It’s the kind of content that shouldn’t work, and somehow entirely does.

The setup: a gift, immediately hijacked

The premise was innocent enough. With Chuseok Korea’s harvest holiday approaching, Kian84 bought red ginseng (hongsam), a traditional health tonic, both for his mother and as a gift for Kazuha. But the moment he handed her the box, he pulled out a pouch for himself: “I’ve got to taste-test it, don’t I?”

Kazuha laughed through the mild robbery “He’s stealing one. He’s eating my gift before I even get to” as Kian84 pronounced it “sweet, delicious.” Fair enough. Then came the part that sent viewers reeling. When Kazuha finished her own pouch and set it down, Kian84 picked it up, put his mouth to the same spout she’d just used, and drained the last drops while scolding her: “Why’d you leave so much? Squeeze it to the very end, all the way.”

The comment sections lit up instantly: “Kian did a Kian.” “I thought Kian had been socialized, but he’s exactly the same.” “Kazuha basically went to the jungle.” That last one is a knowing nod to Kian84’s reputation for wilderness-survival antics the man is not, and has never pretended to be, a portrait of decorum.

So sharing a drink pouch isn’t a gaffe. It’s the product. His entire appeal is that he treats celebrity guests like family members he’s known for decades, collapsing the careful distance that usually governs idol-variety interactions.

The connection: how Kian84 and Kazuha even know each other

The unlikely pairing isn’t random. The two met through the upcoming Netflix variety series Kian’s Bizarre B&B 2 (대환장 기안장2), premiering September 22 a guesthouse-concept show set deep in the snowy mountains of Daegwallyeong, where Kian84 plays the “seasoned owner” and Kazuha, volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung, and 2PM’s Lee Junho serve as his “rookie employees.”

Kian84 explained the depth of the bond: “We lived together, ate together, slept together, and went through many hardships. We also went on a world tour, and since she was going to live abroad for about two months, I wanted to cook home-cooked meals for her.” Framed that way, the ginseng-slurping reads less like a boundary violation and more like the shorthand affection of people who’ve genuinely been through it together. For Kazuha a Japanese former ballet prodigy who trained at the Dutch National Ballet Academy before joining one of HYBE’s flagship groups the easygoing chaos seems to be something she leans into rather than merely tolerates.

Not everything landed as pure comedy, though. In the same video, Kian84 also clipped Kazuha’s toenails she’d agreed to it, and the moment was played for laughs but a segment of viewers pushed back, calling the act too intimate and, for some, uncomfortable to watch.

It’s worth taking that reaction seriously rather than waving it off. This isn’t the first time: Kian84 previously tended to fellow guest Kwon Eun-bi’s heel calluses, and the pattern has drawn scrutiny about how far his “family-style” treatment of female idols should go, even with consent on camera.
