The singer completed ownership registration for the 9.5 billion won property in August, adding a commercial building to her previously reported real estate holdings in Seoul.
TWICE member Nayeon has reportedly purchased land and a commercial building in Seoul’s prestigious Cheongdam neighborhood for 9.5 billion won, approximately $6.8 million.
According to property industry reports and registry information released on August 28, Nayeon signed the purchase agreement on May 3 and completed the ownership transfer registration on August 24.
The property includes a building with one basement level and two floors above ground. It has a total floor area of 218.87 square meters, or approximately 66 pyeong, and was expanded in 2010.
The building is currently registered entirely as a neighborhood living facility, a Korean property classification covering various types of local commercial space.
Neither Nayeon nor JYP Entertainment has publicly commented on the reported purchase.
Nayeon Reportedly Becomes a Cheongdam Building Owner / News1Why the Property’s Location Is Drawing Attention
The building is situated on a corner where two roads meet, giving the property greater visibility and accessibility than a site facing only one street.
Cheongdam is one of Seoul’s most recognizable luxury districts. The neighborhood contains high end residences, fashion boutiques, galleries, entertainment agencies and flagship stores operated by international brands.
For that reason, the value of a relatively small or older Cheongdam building may lie as much in the land and location as in the existing structure.
Industry reports have suggested that the property could eventually be used as a commercial facility, office or headquarters. Future redevelopment has also been mentioned as a possibility.
Those remain outside assessments rather than plans confirmed by Nayeon. It is currently unknown whether she intends to operate the building, lease it to tenants, renovate it or hold the property as a long term asset.
What the Registered Mortgage Actually Means
Reports state that a maximum secured claim of 10.2 billion won was registered against the property.
That figure should not be interpreted as proof that Nayeon borrowed the full 10.2 billion won.
In South Korean real estate transactions, the maximum secured claim registered on a property is commonly set higher than the actual loan principal. It can include future interest, late fees and other potential obligations covered by the security agreement.
Without separate financial documents, the exact amount Nayeon personally invested or borrowed cannot be confirmed.
Claims that the building was purchased entirely with a loan, or that the registered amount reveals her full financing structure, would therefore be speculative.
This Is Not Nayeon’s First Reported Property Purchase
Nayeon previously attracted attention for purchasing a unit at Brighton N40, a luxury residential complex in Nonhyeon, Gangnam.
She reportedly acquired the 128.15 square meter residence in May 2024 for 3.936 billion won.
A tenant later entered the property under a 2.8 billion won jeonse agreement. Under Korea’s jeonse system, a tenant provides the owner with a large refundable deposit instead of paying conventional monthly rent.
The Nonhyeon purchase and the new Cheongdam building are different types of assets.
Brighton N40 is a high end residential property, while the Cheongdam acquisition consists of land and a building registered for commercial use. The latest transaction therefore represents an expansion beyond residential real estate.
Nayeon Reportedly Becomes a Cheongdam Building Owner / News1A Major Milestone After More Than a Decade With TWICE
The purchase arrives eleven years after Nayeon debuted as a member of TWICE in 2015.
TWICE quickly became one of the defining K-pop girl groups of its generation through songs including “Cheer Up,” “TT,” “Likey,” “What Is Love?,” “Fancy” and “Feel Special.”
The group’s career later expanded far beyond South Korea and Japan. TWICE entered the US stadium touring market, charted multiple albums on the Billboard 200 and built a long running international fanbase.
That longevity is especially meaningful in an industry where girl groups have historically faced uncertain contract periods and short commercial cycles.
Nayeon has remained at the center of TWICE’s identity while also establishing a successful solo career.
Her first solo mini album, IM NAYEON, was released in 2022 and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 7. At the time, it became the first top 10 album on the chart by a Korean solo artist.
She followed it with her second mini album, NA, in 2024, further establishing a musical identity separate from her work with TWICE.
More Than an “Idol Building Owner” Headline
Celebrity property reports often reduce a long career to a large purchase price.
In Nayeon’s case, the 9.5 billion won transaction is certainly significant. However, it also reflects the scale of a career built across group music, solo releases, world tours, advertising partnerships and more than a decade of continuous activity.
The purchase did not happen immediately after her debut or because of one viral song. It came after TWICE developed from a successful Korean girl group into an international touring act with one of K-pop’s most recognizable catalogs.
Nayeon has also maintained major individual appeal throughout that period. She was the first TWICE member to make an official solo debut and demonstrated that her name could support a major release independently.
The Cheongdam acquisition can therefore be viewed as a personal financial milestone reached after years of sustained work rather than simply another story about celebrity wealth.
TWICE Continues Its Global Chapter
The property report comes during another active period for TWICE.
The group held the finale concerts for its THIS IS FOR world tour at Seoul’s KSPO Dome in July. The performances continued TWICE’s reputation as one of the few K-pop girl groups capable of sustaining large scale touring more than a decade into its career.
Nayeon and the other members have also balanced full group activities with individual music, acting, fashion and brand projects.
Details about TWICE’s future contract arrangements have not been fully announced publicly. Any conclusions about renewals or the group’s long term schedule should therefore wait for confirmation from the members and JYP Entertainment.
For now, Nayeon’s reported purchase adds another notable moment to a year already shaped by touring and group activity.
She debuted at 20 as the eldest member of a newly launched girl group. Eleven years later, she is a globally recognized performer, a successful soloist and now, according to public property records, the owner of a commercial building in one of Seoul’s most valuable districts.
