Godzilla has been back in a big way since returning to theaters in 2016. Not only has Legendary's Monsterverse given the atomic kaiju plenty of screentime in the decade since then, but Japan also gave us one of the best Godzilla movies ever with "Godzilla Minus One," soon to be followed by "Godzilla Minus Zero." Ever since debuting in 1954, Godzilla just keep stomping through cities, and now he's entered the world of LEGO.

LEGO has announced the first official Godzilla building brick set, inspired by the kaiju's appearance in Legendary's Monsterverse movies. Clocking in at 5,363 pieces with a height of 27.5 inches, including the monster's heat ray blasting from its mouth. That will make it quite monstrous among the modular buildings out there, even LEGO's Marvel Avengers Tower.

All those LEGO pieces combine to form the massive monster, right down to the glowing spines on his back and his tail that's ready for to be whipped around as a weapon. Let's take a closer look below.

The LEGO Godzilla set comes from the LEGO Ideas program

The official Godzilla LEGO set is the latest to come from the LEGO Ideas program, where master builders and fans can submit their own designs to be voted on and potentially considered for production by LEGO. Creator Matthew Esposito is behind the design, and it was perfected with the help of LEGO model designers Jim Clayton and Markus Rollbühler and creative design lead Jordan Scott.

This is the largest creature ever designed by LEGO, and the designers weren't even sure they'd be able to make it 50cm tall. But they ended up with a Godzilla LEGO set that stands at 70cm, making him a true titan in LEGO form.

While Godzilla probably looks coolest with blue blast out of his mouth, that element can be removed, and you can just have Godzilla's tongue sitting in there instead, roaring into the sky.

The Godzilla LEGO set is coming for Black Friday on November 27, and it will cost $449.99 on the LEGO website. If we're lucky, maybe there will be a King Kong LEGO set that will arrive sometime in the future, so all those LEGO cityscapes out there can see some serious kaiju action.
