Image: SuppliedMarc Jacobs has a new leading lady – and she comes with a top handle. The house’s latest Fall 2026 short film, The Swap, stars former Disney actress Rowan Blanchard and British-American actress and artist Jemima Kirke, with a cameo from playwright Jeremy O. Harris.
At the centre of it, as in every film in the series, is the collection’s flagship: The Scene Bag.
‘The Swap’ is the newest chapter in Question Marc, an ongoing series of short films through which the brand blurs the line between fashion and cinema, extending its storytelling well beyond the runway.
Image: SuppliedSpeaking on the campaign, actress Blanchard described the project as “imaginative, character-driven and fun,” continuing, “that’s what makes it feel so Marc Jacobs – it doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
Set just after the end of the label’s latest couture showcase, the short film finds stars Blanchard and Kirke in somewhat of a Freaky Friday situation, having accidentally exchanged their Scene Bags. As the story progresses, the two actresses root through one another’s belongings. As is human nature, they start to weave tales of the other, morphing their assumptions into reality. Happenstance leads to defining moments for both women’s identities as they navigate foreign waters in an unsolicited journey scrutinizing the ways in which we draw presumptions that skew our perceptions of one another.
Kirke elaborated on the featurette, calling it “a storybook homage to a New York woman and the ways she lives her day to day.”
Image: SuppliedThis isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of the campaign as the label promises more episodes of ‘The Swap’ via social media throughout the Fall season. As for the star of the show, the Scene Bag will debut in the colour palettes of two other Marc Jacobs staples, The Tote Bag and The Snapshot.
The Marc Jacobs Fall 2026 Collection is available to shop in the UAE at the Maison’s boutiques in Dubai Mall and Galleria Mall Abu Dhabi.
