Kwon Eun-bi Announces Deja Vu Comeback Under New Agency Rbw

Arriving September 3, the digital single will be her first release under RBW and her first new music in approximately 16 months.

Kwon Eun-bi is returning with new music, but this comeback represents more than the end of a 16-month gap.

The singer will release her digital single “Deja Vu,” stylized as “DEJAVU,” on September 3 at 6 p.m. KST. It will be her first musical project since joining RBW, making the single an early indication of how her solo career may evolve under a new creative team.

The announcement arrived through a logo-motion video featuring an illuminated “Deja Vu” title against a blue sky and slowly moving clouds. Its open, natural imagery suggests a brighter and more restrained atmosphere than the intense performance concepts for which Kwon has recently become known, although RBW has not yet disclosed the song’s genre or production credits.

Her first musical statement under RBW

Kwon signed with RBW in April after concluding her long-term contract with Woollim Entertainment. RBW, whose artist roster includes MAMAMOO and ONEWE, said at the time that it intended to support her expansion in music and other entertainment fields.

“Deja Vu” will therefore carry particular importance as the first project created under that partnership.

Her previous single, “Hello Stranger,” was released in April 2025. While Kwon remained visible through festivals and other activities, the absence of a new release created a longer-than-usual gap in her solo discography.

The title “Deja Vu” evokes the sensation of experiencing something familiar for a second time. That idea could be especially fitting for an artist attempting to retain a well-known public identity while presenting it through a new agency, although the song’s actual narrative has not yet been revealed.

The performance that changed her solo career

Kwon’s current position as a soloist cannot be explained without her breakthrough at Waterbomb Seoul in June 2023.

Fan-recorded footage of her performance spread widely online, with one video surpassing seven million YouTube views. The attention earned her the Korean nicknames “Waterbomb Goddess” and “Summer Queen,” transforming her into one of the festival’s most closely associated performers.

The moment also gave an unexpected second life to “Underwater.” Originally released in October 2022, the song began climbing Korean charts months later as audiences rediscovered it through her Waterbomb performances. It eventually reached No. 78 on the Circle Digital Chart.

That delayed success demonstrated how a live performance can reshape the commercial life of an existing K-pop song. It also gave Kwon a clear public identity built around confident choreography, electronic pop and summer festivals.

Can Deja Vu expand the Summer Queen image?

The “Summer Queen” label gave Kwon one of the most recognizable solo brands among former project-group members. It can also become limiting if every comeback is expected to recreate the same festival formula.

Her previous releases already reveal a broader musical range. “Door” introduced her through theatrical dance-pop, “Glitch” explored sleek electronic production, and “Underwater” used house-influenced rhythms. Later singles including “The Flash,” “Sabotage,” “Snowfall” and “Hello Stranger” continued to test different moods rather than reproducing one sound.

That makes “Deja Vu” an opportunity to define what comes after her festival breakthrough. Released as summer begins giving way to autumn in Korea, the single could either extend her seasonal appeal or redirect attention toward a different part of her musical identity.

A career built through repeated reinvention

Kwon’s path has included several restarts. She initially debuted with the short-lived group Ye-A in 2014 before competing on Mnet’s “Produce 48.” She later became the leader of IZ*ONE and began her current solo career following the project group’s conclusion in 2021.

Each transition required her to rebuild how audiences understood her. Moving to RBW marks another such turning point, but this time she enters with an established solo catalog and a performance identity recognized beyond her former group.

“Deja Vu” may sound like a return to something familiar. For Kwon Eun-bi, however, it is the beginning of an entirely new professional era.
