The co-stars bring 1930s romance to ELLE Korea’s November issue and explain why they were eager to work together.
For Kim You-jung and Park Jinyoung, the prospect of working together was part of the appeal of 100 Days of Deception.
The actors discussed their partnership in an interview accompanying a joint pictorial unveiled by ELLE Korea on October 21. Inspired by the romantic atmosphere of the 1930s, the shoot echoes the period setting of their tvN espionage drama.
Behind the photographs is a working relationship both actors described in terms of trust, warmth and discovery.

Jinyoung revealed that Kim had already been cast when he received the script, and her involvement played a significant part in his decision to join.
He believed she could help bring out a side of his acting he had not yet discovered. Looking back on the collaboration, he said that expectation had been fulfilled.
Kim was equally enthusiastic about the casting. Having enjoyed his previous work, she felt Jinyoung matched the Tae-woong she had imagined while reading the story.
Their answers suggest that the partnership began with confidence in each other’s abilities, before they started building their characters’ complicated relationship on screen.
Warmth, versatility and clear communication
Asked what he discovered while working with Kim, Jinyoung described her as lively, multifaceted and adaptable as an actor.
Kim recalled warmth as her first impression of him. She also emphasized how clearly his intentions came across, whether he was communicating an emotion, a mood or something he wanted to say.
That clarity offered a foundation for a drama in which their characters often have to conceal what they mean.
Kim plays Ga-gyeong, a skilled pickpocket who becomes a spy. Jinyoung plays Tae-woong, an elite interpreter within the Japanese colonial administration. Their growing connection develops amid competing loyalties and dangerous secrets.

Both actors also reflected on portraying young people living in the 1930s.
Kim said the experience left her feeling grateful, while making her recognize that the concerns of young people then were not entirely different from those of today. She recalled the cast and crew approaching the work with a shared sincerity.
Jinyoung focused on questions of identity and purpose: how to live and what kind of person to become. Despite its historical setting, he saw the drama as a human story shaped by love and solidarity.
The pictorial and interview appear in ELLE Korea’s November issue and on its website. Additional YouTube and digital content featuring the pair is also planned.
Editor’s Note
