Jung Eun-woo, a former member of the highly celebrated K-pop girl group PRISTIN, has opened up to fans by sharing the behind-the-scenes reality of the group’s sudden and controversial disbandment. On June 29, 2026, the 27-year-old artist uploaded a short video to her personal social media channels, writing the direct caption: “Let’s finally talk about our disbandment, which has easily been the number one question you guys have asked me for years!”

“Our Turn Kept Getting Pushed Back”

PRISTIN, who debuted under Pledis Entertainment in 2017 after multiple members built massive individual fanbases on Mnet’s survival show Produce 101, was widely considered one of the most promising rookie groups of their generation. However, after releasing just two mini-albums and winning multiple “Rookie of the Year” trophies, the group entered a long, unexplained hiatus before their sudden disbandment in May 2019.

Reflecting on her early days and the company’s internal situation at the time, Jung Eun-woo shared:

“I started my life as an idol trainee when I was only in my third year of middle school, and Pledis Entertainment was my very first company. It was actually the first agency for all of our members. After appearing on Produce 101, we finally got to make our official debut. Because we were widely viewed as a highly anticipated group with a bright future, I personally held incredibly high expectations for our career.”

She then carefully addressed why the group’s active promotions stopped so abruptly:

“While I cannot reveal every single detail about what went on behind closed doors, our agency managed multiple different musical groups at the time, and the corporate executives had an overwhelming number of things they needed to focus on and take care of. Because of that, our group’s turn on the internal release schedule slowly kept getting pushed further and further back. In the end, the right opportunities simply never came back to us.”

Zero Regrets: A Brand-New Chapter in Life

Despite the deep heartbreak of seeing her teenage dreams cut short, Jung Eun-woo showed incredible maturity and a positive outlook on her past. “Even though it was an incredibly painful and difficult period to survive through back then, looking back at it today, it was a beautiful and priceless experience. It’s precisely because I survived that era that I am able to sit here and comfortably connect with all of you right now,” she explained warmly.

The former idol confidently stated that she holds absolutely zero regrets regarding her choices: “Even if I could magically turn back time and return to the past, I would still choose the exact same profession, join the exact same company, and do everything exactly the same way. I truly have no lingering regrets. Because I’ve lived an incredibly eventful life, I plan to slowly untangle all of these stories for you guys one-by-one moving forward.”

Jung Eun-woo recently grabbed internet headlines on June 5 by revealing that she has completely transitioned out of the entertainment industry and is currently working a normal, full-time job as a Chief Consultation Manager at a prominent plastic surgery clinic in Seoul. Following her brief re-debut run with the independent group HINAPIA in late 2019, which sadly collapsed in 2020 due to pandemic-related financial hardships, fans are flooding her social media comment sections with warm words of respect, cheering on her courage to share her story and build a successful new life outside the K-pop spotlight.
