T.O.P is leaning into self-deprecating humor as he continues his return to the spotlight.
In a newly uploaded video on his YouTube channel, the former BIGBANG member and actor made viewers laugh with a blunt remark about why he has no summer vacation plans. Appearing alongside Nana, who took part in the music video for his new song “Completely Crazy! (Studio54)”, T.O.P casually said he does not need a break because he has already “rested for 10 years.”
The line was short, but it immediately caught attention because it appeared to reference his long public hiatus.

The video, titled “One-Time YouTuber T.O.P with NANA,” was released on April 28 and featured the two stars talking about his new album while filming a mukbang-style ASMR segment.
During their conversation, T.O.P asked Nana whether she had any plans for a summer holiday. Nana answered that she did not. When she asked him the same question back, he replied just as directly that he also had no vacation plans.
Then came the moment that made the clip spread.
T.O.P added, “I don’t go on vacation… I rested for 10 years,” before laughing together with Nana. He followed it up by saying again that he does not need a vacation, while Nana encouraged him by saying he can now keep moving forward and work hard.
Fans react to the self-aware humor
After the video was posted, viewers responded with a mix of amusement and surprise.
Many focused on how openly T.O.P referenced his own long absence, with reactions describing the moment as unusually honest, self-aware, and very much in line with a rapper’s style of self-diss humor. Rather than avoiding the subject, he appeared to fold it into the conversation himself.
That tone may be part of why the moment resonated. Instead of treating the gap in his career as something too heavy to mention, he turned it into a dry one-liner.

T.O.P largely stepped away from entertainment activities after receiving a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, in 2017 in connection with marijuana use charges. Since then, his return has unfolded gradually. He later reappeared through Netflix’s Squid Game 2, marking a high-profile acting comeback, and more recently resumed music activities with his first solo full-length album, Another Dimension.
That context is what gives the vacation joke its edge. It was not just a random funny comment. It was a pointed acknowledgment of a long and publicly discussed absence.
A different tone for his comeback era
What stands out about the clip is how relaxed T.O.P appears while speaking about something that could easily have been handled more cautiously.
Rather than offering a formal reflection on his hiatus, he chose a lighter, almost disarming tone. That does not erase the seriousness of the past, but it does show a different side of how he is approaching this comeback period — less guarded, more dryly candid, and seemingly more willing to address the gap in his career on his own terms.
For now, one thing is clear: T.O.P’s return is not unfolding in silence.
And even a simple question about summer vacation was enough to turn into a headline.
