Before they shared the screen as actors, Byeon Woo-seok and Noh Sang-hyun first crossed paths in a very different world, the one of fashion.

The two stars looked back on their modeling-era memories during a recent appearance on the YouTube variety show Salon Drip, where they joined fellow Perfect Crown cast members IU and Gong Seung-yeon. What began as a casual conversation quickly turned into a funny and surprisingly revealing moment about first impressions.

A memory from their early careers

During the episode, Byeon Woo-seok said he and Noh Sang-hyun had worked together often during their modeling days, especially on photo shoots.

But while the two now appear relaxed around each other, Byeon Woo-seok admitted that his first impression of Noh Sang-hyun had been a little intimidating. He said Noh Sang-hyun had such a upright, composed image at the time that he felt hard to approach.

Byeon Woo-seok added that Noh Sang-hyun had only recently returned from abroad back then, which made him seem even cooler and more distant. In short, he thought Noh Sang-hyun looked impressive just not easy to talk to.

That unexpected confession immediately drew attention, especially because of how honestly and lightly Byeon Woo-seok delivered it.

Noh Sang-hyun reacts with embarrassment

Noh Sang-hyun’s reaction made the moment even better.

As Byeon Woo-seok recalled those memories, Noh Sang-hyun appeared visibly flustered and awkward, creating a playful atmosphere on the show. Trying to explain himself, he said he had simply been shy.

The response added a layer of humor to the story. What Byeon Woo-seok remembered as a hard-to-approach presence, Noh Sang-hyun framed more simply as quiet awkwardness.

That gap between how people are perceived and how they actually feel often makes for the most charming kind of behind the scenes story and this moment landed exactly that way.

“He looked like he came out of a webtoon”

Noh Sang-hyun then returned the compliment in his own way.

When asked what he remembered about Byeon Woo-seok from that time, he immediately pointed to his height, saying it was strikingly tall in person. He also described Byeon Woo-seok as looking like he had stepped right out of a webtoon, a comment that drew attention for how neatly it matches the image many fans already have of the actor today.

It was a simple exchange, but one that worked because it felt so natural. Rather than trying to force chemistry through promotional stories, the two ended up revealing the kind of awkward, funny early impressions that make a cast dynamic feel more genuine.

Editor’s Insight: Why fans are reacting to the story

Moments like this tend to resonate because they let audiences see the actors outside the polished structure of official drama promotion.

For fans of Perfect Crown , the story adds another layer to the cast’s appeal. Byeon Woo-seok and Noh Sang-hyun are not just co-stars sharing a project in the present they are two people whose paths have overlapped long before this drama, first in fashion and now in acting.

That sense of history, even in a light anecdote, makes the current cast chemistry feel a little richer.

And sometimes, the most entertaining behind-the-scenes detail is also the simplest one: one actor thought the other looked too cool to approach, while the other was just shy the whole time.
