Bts Gets Its Own Avenue As Lima Turns First Peru Concerts Into A Citywide Festival

BTS has not even performed its first concert in Peru yet, but Lima is already celebrating the group’s arrival across the city.

Ahead of three “ARIRANG” world tour concerts at Estadio San Marcos on October 7, 9 and 10, local authorities, tourism officials and fan organizations have transformed the historic visit into a citywide cultural event.

The most visible tribute is “Avenida BTS,” a temporary name given to Sacramento Street in Lima’s Santiago de Surco district.

The symbolic renaming was organized through cooperation between the Municipality of Santiago de Surco and BTS Peru Fanclub. Special signs have been installed along the street, which will carry the BTS name from October 5 through October 11.

The distinction is important. The street has not been permanently renamed, but the temporary designation shows the scale of anticipation surrounding BTS’s first visit to the country.

Lima Turns Purple for BTS

The celebration extends far beyond a single street.

Major locations in Lima, including the Moorish Arch at Parque de la Amistad and the city’s fountain park, have been illuminated in purple, the color most closely associated with BTS and ARMY.

The citywide welcome is part of “Road to 7,” a collection of fan-led activities connecting BTS’s concerts with Peruvian culture, tourism, food and public spaces.

The program includes a drone show visible from the coastal districts of Miraflores and Barranco, themed buses carrying visitors through Lima and special food experiences created for international ARMY traveling to the city.

A listening party featuring Peruvian cumbia group Grupo 5 and a marathon scheduled after the concerts further expand the celebration beyond conventional fan events.

Rather than treating the concerts as isolated performances, organizers are presenting them as an opportunity for visitors to experience Lima and other parts of Peru.

Peru’s Official Tourism Platform Joins the Celebration

Peru Travel, the country’s official tourism platform operated by PROMPERÚ, has also highlighted the concerts as an opportunity to introduce international visitors to Peruvian gastronomy, landscapes and culture.

Its official guide encourages BTS fans to explore Lima while attending the shows, positioning the concerts as the center of a broader travel experience.

This level of institutional participation demonstrates how global pop tours increasingly function as tourism events. Fans do not simply purchase concert tickets. They book flights, accommodation, transportation and dining experiences while visiting landmarks connected to organized fan projects.

For Lima, BTS’s arrival offers a chance to reach a global audience already motivated to travel and participate in local culture.

BTS Adds a Third Lima Concert

BTS originally announced two Lima performances for October 9 and 10. After strong demand, an additional concert was scheduled for October 7 at Estadio San Marcos.

The three performances mark BTS’s first concerts in Peru since the group debuted in 2013.

The milestone carries particular meaning for Peruvian ARMY, who have supported BTS for years without previously having the opportunity to see all seven members perform together in their country.

The Lima concerts follow the opening of the South American leg in Bogotá, Colombia. BTS will continue to Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo as part of the Latin American schedule for the “ARIRANG” world tour.

More Than a Concert Arrival

Temporary street names and purple landmarks are visually striking, but the reaction in Lima tells a larger story about BTS’s international reach.

The group’s arrival has created cooperation between fans, municipal authorities and national tourism organizations. It has also produced a program combining Korean pop culture with Peruvian music, cuisine, art and travel.

“Avenida BTS” will return to its original name after October 11. However, the tribute has already become a symbol of a long-awaited moment for local fans.

For BTS, Lima is another stop on an expansive world tour. For Peru’s ARMY, it is the first time the group has brought a full concert to their country.

Lima’s response makes clear that the occasion will not be remembered as three performances alone. For one week, an entire city is joining the celebration.
