BTS is proving its global reach once again, as the group’s fifth studio album ‘ARIRANG’ recorded 3.8 billion streams in its first eight weeks and attracted listeners beyond the traditional K-pop fanbase.
BigHit Music revealed new data from global music analytics company Luminate on June 30, showing the scale of BTS’ latest comeback.
Released on March 20, ‘ARIRANG’ marked BTS’ first full-group album in three years and nine months.

‘ARIRANG’ Records 3.8 Billion Streams in Eight Weeks
According to Luminate’s analysis, ‘ARIRANG’ generated 3.8 billion streams across major global platforms from March 20 to May 14.
The data covered streaming activity on services including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music.
Interest in BTS’ older catalog also rose during the same period, helped by the group’s world tour and renewed attention around their full-group comeback. Including previous releases, BTS’ total global streams surpassed 5.3 billion during the eight-week period.
The numbers show that ‘ARIRANG’ was not only a comeback album for existing fans, but also a major global music event that pushed listeners back toward BTS’ wider discography.
BTS Shows Balanced Global Demand Across Regions
The album’s streaming performance was not concentrated in one market.
Luminate data showed that BTS’ total album streams during the period were spread across multiple regions, including Latin America, Northeast Asia, North America, Southeast Asia and Europe.
Latin America accounted for the largest share at 27%, followed by Northeast Asia at 17%, North America at 14%, Southeast Asia at 13% and Europe at 12%.
The regional spread suggests that BTS’ current popularity is not limited to a single fan market. Instead, the group continues to maintain broad demand across several major music regions.

‘SWIM’ Becomes a Streaming Standout
The title track ‘SWIM’ also delivered a major streaming milestone.
As of May 26, the song surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the biggest global tracks of the year.
BigHit Music said ‘SWIM’ was the first song released worldwide in 2026 to reach 500 million streams on Spotify.
The album’s other tracks also performed strongly. All 14 songs on ‘ARIRANG’ reportedly passed 100 million streams each, while ‘Body to Body’ and ‘Hooligan’ each surpassed 200 million streams.
This shows that listeners are not only focusing on the title track, but engaging with the album as a full project.
Physical Album Sales Remain Strong in the United States
BTS also showed strong performance in physical sales.
During the same eight-week period, ‘ARIRANG’ sold 810,000 physical albums in the United States, including CDs and vinyl records.
The result placed BTS at the top of the U.S. physical album sales ranking for that period.
The strong physical sales are especially meaningful in the streaming era, as they reflect the purchasing power and loyalty of BTS’ core fanbase.
Luminate Data Shows BTS’ Fanbase Is Still Growing
The analysis also examined the structure of BTS’ audience.
Among consumers who recognize BTS, Luminate found that 26% belonged to the actively engaged audience, 15% showed strong attachment, and 9% were classified as superfans.
All three figures increased compared with 2021, showing that BTS has continued to strengthen its core fanbase over time.
At the same time, the group’s broader public appeal also grew. The favorable audience reached 44%, while the listening audience reached 32%, both rising from 2021.
This suggests that BTS is expanding on two fronts: maintaining strong loyalty among fans while also reaching more casual listeners.

New Listeners Are Coming From Outside K-Pop
One of the most notable findings was the arrival of listeners who do not usually consume much K-pop.
According to Luminate, a new hip-hop-leaning audience has started listening to BTS even though K-pop is not a major part of their usual music habits.
This group accounted for about 7% of consumers who recognize BTS. Luminate also found that 38% of this new listener group was Hispanic or Latino.
The finding supports the idea that ‘ARIRANG’ is reaching people who may not define themselves as K-pop fans, but still connect with BTS’ music, performance and cultural identity.
BTS Strengthens Both Fandom and Mainstream Appeal
BigHit Music said the analysis shows BTS is maintaining strong loyalty from its core fandom while also attracting new audiences.
This balance is one of the reasons ‘ARIRANG’ has become such an important release.
The album is not only performing well because of BTS’ existing popularity. It is also helping the group widen its cultural influence and connect with listeners who may have previously stayed outside the K-pop market.
With 3.8 billion streams, strong physical sales, rising fan engagement and new listener growth, ‘ARIRANG’ confirms BTS’ position as one of the most powerful global music acts of 2026.
