YG Entertainment confirmed on Aug. 7 that Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa will all participate in the meet-and-greet scheduled for Aug. 8, the anniversary of BLACKPINK’s 2016 debut. The gathering will give 40 randomly selected Weverse membership holders an unusually intimate opportunity to meet the complete group.

The confirmation carries particular meaning because BLACKPINK now operates through a divided management structure. YG Entertainment handles the quartet’s group activities, while the members pursue their individual careers through separate companies. Coordinating all four schedules has consequently become an important part of every BLACKPINK reunion.

Why the Original Announcement Caused Confusion

The uncertainty began with YG Entertainment’s Aug. 6 notice on BLACKPINK’s official Weverse community. According to Korean media reports quoting the announcement, the company initially said that only “some members,” specifically those available according to their schedules, were expected to attend.

That wording immediately left a central question unanswered: which members would be there?

Rosé became the subject of particular speculation after reports and online posts placed her in Los Angeles shortly before the event. Her agency, THEBLACKLABEL, responded on Aug. 7 by rejecting inaccurate and unconfirmed claims about her personal schedule and participation.

According to the company’s statement, Rosé had treated the anniversary event as a priority for a considerable period and secured the necessary time in advance so she could spend the occasion with fans.

Separate Korean reporting later raised questions about Lisa’s attendance. However, YG’s final confirmation established that neither Rosé nor Lisa would be absent.

The sequence is important. The members did not gradually decide to join in response to the speculation, based on the agencies’ statements. Instead, the confusion appears to have resulted from the cautious language used in the original public notice.

A Small Event With Considerable Symbolic Weight

Only 40 fans will attend the private event, but its significance extends beyond its limited capacity.

BLACKPINK reached its 10-year milestone after navigating a structure that is still relatively unusual for a group of its scale. In December 2023, YG announced that all four members had renewed their contracts for BLACKPINK’s group activities, while their individual work would be managed separately.

Jennie established OA, Lisa launched LLOUD and Jisoo founded BLISSOO. Rosé signed with THEBLACKLABEL for management of her solo career. Each member has since expanded her individual identity through music, acting, fashion and international projects without formally leaving BLACKPINK.

This arrangement has allowed the members greater independence, but it has also made full-group appearances feel less routine. A 10th anniversary event featuring all four members therefore serves as a visible reminder that their solo careers and BLACKPINK’s group identity continue to coexist.

Saying that only “available members” would attend naturally invited speculation, especially when participation was limited to 40 fans and the event was tied to a major anniversary. YG and THEBLACKLABEL’s subsequent statements clarified the most important point: the complete group will attend.

Rather than evidence of conflict between the members or a last-minute reunion, the available official statements indicate that BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary gathering had already been treated as a priority. What changed was the information made public to fans.

On Aug. 8, the focus can finally return to the milestone itself: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa marking a decade of BLACKPINK together with BLINKs.
