The earlier portraits allowed each member to occupy a separate color environment. In the group photographs, those individual worlds have been replaced by one shared monochrome setting. It is a visual interpretation rather than a confirmed explanation from the group, but the sequence reflects BIGBANG’s current position: three musicians with established careers returning under the name that first connected them.

The surreal background also prevents the anniversary from feeling like a purely nostalgic exercise. Instead of surrounding the members with recognizable objects from their past, the creative team has placed them in an unfamiliar environment. It will be BIGBANG’s first group release in four years, following “Still Life” in April 2022. That single offered a reflective examination of time, memory and changing seasons. “BiiiG,” at least in its title and promotional scale, is being introduced with a more declarative sense of presence.

The release also begins a new chapter for BIGBANG as the current trio of G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung. Each has continued developing a separate musical career, making their reunion significant beyond the anniversary itself. It brings together three performers who no longer depend exclusively on group activities, but still share one of K-pop’s most recognizable names.

New Music Leads Directly Into XX : COSMOS

BIGBANG will not have much time between releasing “BiiiG” and returning to the stage. The group’s 2026-2027 world tour, titled “XX : COSMOS,” begins at Goyang Stadium with concerts scheduled for August 21, 22 and 23, according to the official tour schedule.

The title combines the Roman numeral for 20 with the idea of a cosmos, framing the anniversary as a larger world constructed around BIGBANG’s music, performances and visual history. The announced itinerary comprises 33 performances across 19 cities.

“BiiiG” will therefore serve as more than a commemorative digital single. It will become the group’s newest material as it begins a stadium-scale international tour, giving the anniversary campaign a forward-looking element rather than relying entirely on its established catalogue.

BIGBANG’s catalogue already includes songs such as “Lies,” “Last Farewell,” “Haru Haru,” “Fantastic Baby,” “Bang Bang Bang” and “Last Dance.” Those releases helped shape the sound, fashion and performance style associated with second-generation K-pop. The challenge surrounding the 20th anniversary is not proving that history again, but showing what the BIGBANG name can represent in 2026.
