BIGBANG is preparing to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the fans who helped define its legacy.

On May 18, YG Entertainment announced through official channels that BIGBANG will begin recruiting members for the 6th generation of its official fan club, V.I.P. The announcement marks the group’s first official fan club recruitment in approximately 11 years, following the 5th generation recruitment in 2015. For longtime fans, the news feels like more than a membership update. It signals the beginning of a full-scale anniversary project built around BIGBANG’s reunion, global fandom, and upcoming world tour.

BIGBANG Brings Back V.I.P After More Than a Decade

The new fan club recruitment will take place through BIGBANG’s official community on global fandom platform b.stage.

Members will receive various online and offline benefits, including early access to world tour tickets, participation in fan club-only community spaces, exclusive content access, and opportunities to purchase official merchandise.

The recruitment poster also drew major attention online. It featured a concert venue filled with fans holding BIGBANG’s official light stick, known as the Bang Bong, creating a sea of yellow light that immediately reminded fans of the group’s most iconic concert moments.

A 20th Anniversary Project Built With Fans

YG Entertainment explained that the decision to reopen fan club recruitment was made to strengthen communication with fans during the group’s meaningful 20th anniversary year.

The agency described the upcoming project as one that BIGBANG and fans will build together, emphasizing the long relationship between the artists and V.I.Ps who have supported the group for two decades. The timing is especially important because BIGBANG is not simply returning with nostalgia. The group is rebuilding its official fan structure at a moment when legacy K-pop fandoms are becoming powerful again.

Coachella Proved BIGBANG’s Influence Is Still Alive

The announcement follows BIGBANG’s full-group performance at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April, where the group reminded global audiences of its lasting impact.

Despite years away from regular group promotions, BIGBANG’s stage showed that its influence has not faded. Instead, the response suggested that the group remains one of K-pop’s most recognizable and emotionally powerful names.

That momentum will continue in August, when BIGBANG is scheduled to begin a large-scale world tour celebrating its 20th debut anniversary.

Why This Matters for K-Pop History

BIGBANG debuted in August 2006 and went on to become one of the most influential groups in K-pop history, releasing hits such as “Haru Haru,” “Fantastic Baby,” “Bang Bang Bang,” “Lies,” “Last Dance,” and “Last Farewell.”

Their return to official fan club recruitment reflects how deeply second-generation K-pop fandom culture still matters in 2026. For many fans, V.I.P is not just a fandom name. It is a memory of an era, a symbol of loyalty, and now, once again, a doorway into BIGBANG’s next chapter.
