Ahof Tops Japan’s Oricon Chart Six Weeks After Run To You Release

Why AHOF’s Biggest Japanese Chart Victory Arrived More Than a Month After Their Comeback

AHOF has achieved its highest position yet on Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking, but the timing makes the result more significant than an ordinary release-week debut.

The nine-member group’s third EP, RUN TO YOU, reached No. 1 on the Oricon daily album chart dated August 23. According to Oricon’s official data, the album recorded an estimated 11,491 sales that day, more than six weeks after its original July 8 release.

The late surge did not happen in isolation. It arrived at the end of a three-day promotional event in Tokyo organized around Japan-exclusive editions of the album. Those editions were offered in photobook, digipack and QR formats, each accompanied by a randomly selected photo card. Purchasers were also eligible to participate in offline events held at Tokyo’s TOC Exhibition Hall from August 21 through 23.

This context offers a clearer explanation for the album’s sudden rise. Rather than simply demonstrating passive longevity, the No. 1 reflects AHOF’s increasingly localized Japanese strategy, combining physical products with in-person opportunities for fans.

Korean reports also placed RUN TO YOU at No. 5 on Billboard Japan’s Top Albums Sales chart, adding another indicator of the album’s growing physical-market performance.

Building Visibility Beyond a Single Comeback Week

Released on July 8, RUN TO YOU contains five tracks: the title song, pre-release single “Sugar High,” “JUST SAY YES,” “You’re the Reason” and “Our Story.” The title track was produced by EL CAPITXN and pairs bright synth-pop production with a message about moving toward someone without hesitation.

The album initially reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in six countries and entered the rankings in 22 countries and territories. In South Korea, its title track debuted at No. 4 on Bugs’ real-time chart and entered Melon’s HOT100 at No. 57.

AHOF also earned a trophy on MBC M’s Show Champion one week after the comeback. The result meant that each of the group’s three title tracks had secured a Korean music-show win, beginning with debut song “Rendezvous” and continuing through “Pinocchio Hates Lies” and “RUN TO YOU.”

Japan, however, appears to be developing into one of the most important markets in the group’s early career.

From Concerts to Kyocera Dome

AHOF’s Oricon result follows a sustained period of Japanese activity rather than a single promotional appearance.

The group has held release events, mini fan concerts and tour stops in Osaka and Tokyo since its 2025 debut. On August 13, AHOF expanded that exposure by performing at Kansai Collection 2026 Autumn and Winter at Kyocera Dome Osaka.

During the event, the members performed “Sugar High,” “JUST SAY YES” and “RUN TO YOU,” while communicating with the audience in Japanese. Kansai Collection describes itself as one of Japan’s largest fashion-entertainment events and has welcomed more than 800,000 visitors across its editions.

For a relatively young act, performing at a major dome event provides exposure beyond a conventional K-pop concert audience. The appearance also connected AHOF with Japan’s fashion and youth-culture markets shortly before the group’s Tokyo album events.

The sequence is important: concerts and fan meetings helped establish a core audience, the Kyocera Dome performance expanded visibility, and the Japan-exclusive album campaign gave listeners a direct reason to purchase the record.

Why Japan Matters for AHOF

AHOF was formed through SBS survival program Universe League and debuted under F&F Entertainment in July 2025. Its multinational lineup includes members from South Korea, the Philippines, Japan, China, Taiwan and Australia.

That international composition gives the group several possible entry points into overseas markets. JL has helped AHOF develop a particularly visible following in the Philippines, where the group staged two concerts at the Mall of Asia Arena in July. Daisuke, meanwhile, provides a natural connection to Japanese audiences.

Still, nationality alone does not guarantee a durable market. AHOF’s recent result shows the importance of repeated local appearances, accessible communication and market-specific releases.

The Oricon No. 1 should therefore be viewed as an early milestone rather than proof that AHOF has already secured permanent mainstream status in Japan. A daily physical-sales chart can be affected significantly by events and special-edition campaigns. Weekly rankings, streaming performance and demand for future concerts will provide a broader measure of the group’s long-term position.

What AHOF has demonstrated is that its Japanese audience can mobilize around a coordinated release. For a group only one year into its career, turning a six-week-old Korean EP into a No. 1 album day in Japan is a promising foundation for whatever comes next.
