IVE return with new mini album IVE EMPATHY and title song Attitude.
I feel like it has been a really long time since we got an IVE comeback or is that just me? HEYA feels like it was a century ago tbf. Anyway, this comeback still kind of snuck up on me because why was I so unprepared and I am so overwhelmed lately and so bad with my time management I am getting nothing done. However I will always find some time to sit down and write for IVE and here we are. The concept pictures for this comeback looked absolutely stunning and I was extra excited. So let me not ramble on and let’s get into the review.
I am absolutely blanking right now as to which sample IVE are using for Attitude but either way I am here for the sound of this. I love the opening of Attitude and how this song is definitely taking us back to the melodic IVE. I love the pre-chorus of this song and how full on soft pop Attitude is. You would have thought that the girls would bring back some of that bad girl attitude that we had a bit too much of a few years ago but no Attitude stays full on melodic except for that classic almost nostalgic feeling second verse rap break down. I am really enjoying this and don’t even mind that that attitude and shouting energy appears of Attitude it feels gimmicky but in a good way. I am not sure this is as strong as IVE previous bombastic title songs but I am also sure Attitude will grow on me with time.
When looking at the mini album I am surprised pre-release Rebel Heart is opening the album with Attitude is very far at the end. This leaves us with the middle songs which are all equally strong especially You Wanna Cry standing out to me as we get a bit more of a pop rock song from the girls and that’s what just always gets me immediately when it comes to music. However FKU, Thank U and TKO are all very strong songs. Overall, this is a very solid IVE comeback and I am intrigued to see how the rest of the K-POP world will react to it.
